Making Aurora my home
My husband and I have lived in Aurora for 30 years. We previously lived in Toronto but when we decided to start a family, we wanted to move to a smaller town within commuting distance to my job with the City of Toronto. We chose Aurora because it had a sense of community, great schools and excellent options for commuting. We purchased a home in Ward 2, which was 120 years old at the time, and required extensive renovations. After a 25 year labour of love, we brought our home back to its former glory. We are very proud that we saved a piece of Aurora history.

A Career of Public Service
I started my career by getting a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto. From that point, I worked for the City of Toronto for 30 years in many different roles, allowing me to gain perspective on every aspect of public service. My roles included policy development, public engagement, research, risk assessment and contract management. My experience at the City of Toronto gave me extensive experience in municipal governance, interaction with council, and engaging the public to determine their wants and needs.
Committment to Aurora
I have been heavily involved with the Town of Aurora regarding issues identified by local residents. I have stood before council numerous times, on behalf of residents, to ensure that development in our area is considerate of existing residents, viable for the area, and reflects controlled, resilient growth. I am currently also a citizen volunteer for the Town of Aurora’s Environmental Advisory Committee. Previously I was also a citizen member of the Yonge Street Revitalization Sub-Committee.

As I am now retired, I can dedicate my full attention as a councillor. I want to represent Ward 2, my home ward, as I have always believed in giving back to the community if the opportunity was presented. I believe that in order to understand the issues in a ward, you must live there as a long term resident.
